Mixed Martial Arts is still considered a niche sport, a niche sport that existed as long as human. In a world where tech is taking over everywhere, MMA stays a rare, pure form of competition as well as performance art, centered by our primal instincts. More than fighting, I admire the mental capacity a martial artist has to possess just to step into the cage, putting pride and integrity on the line, along with a lifetime of training and preparation. That alone, is already a unique study of human science.
I actually don’t have a taste for violence, storytelling is what really interest me about the UFC. Every discipline, race, religion, lifestyle on earth is spotlighted here, no discrimination. Winning and losing is what makes this sport exciting, but as a creative, there is nothing more inspiring than watching artists putting their entire beings on the line for what they believe in.
Training

Training 🥊
I’m no ultimate fighting champion, but I had to find out what it is about this sport that’s so inspiring. I learned as much from my coaches as the middle schooler that comes to train after school. There is no hiding on the mat, your effort is the only thing that gets judged on. And just like anything else in life, training might seem repetitive and tiring, anything is possible if you give everything you got.
Hometown
Heroes
Growing up Asian, I had to fight off a lot of demons. Before I stepped out of China, I never knew my eyes were slanted, nor I was born weak with a small penis. I don’t even care about Song Yadong’s fight record, this is an appreciation to someone that looks just like me, going for something that everybody said he couldn’t do, and proving his worth beyond expectations.

Fighter Posters 🥊
The thing I value the most about creative work, is the creative process. Posters, videos, 3D, they all follow the same creative process to me. 200 layers in Aftereffects might seem intimidating, but a real martial artist never shy away from a good fight.

One thing I learned from MMA, is that the sport is constantly evolving, and standing still means getting left behind. Graphic design might sound basic in the whole spectrum of designs, it also serves as the best foundation for any visual creative work.
